    致我嘅馬來西亞同胞:避免由SHOPEE購買。 佢哋係一個犯罪組織,會呃你,欺騙你,唔將你嘅錢還給你。 唔好同佢哋做生意,因為你會後悔---> ua-cam.com/video/o-1Jmh0Ning/v-deo.html To all you Americanos wishing to visit Malaysia, or who've already made Malaysia your second home: Do NOT do business with an online company called Shopee Malaysia. (I assume they just copied the name "Shopify" and altered it to "Shopee" ---- hmmm, what a bunch of creative thinkers.) You will be out of pocket by hundreds (if not thousands) of Malaysian ringgit if you buy goods from this criminal company. You have been warned, my mongrel superpower friends. AVOID Shopee.

    wow - this must be the pointless debate ever. Those in favour of the motion don't even understand Milton Friedman's position - and are destroying his great legacy! And to say, that the "larger justification of colonialism" was to "civilise uncivilised society", is a damn right insult and lie, and further unsettling to be coming from a person who appears to be of Indian descent. If Oxford represents the best of education, no wonder we are ruled by idiots. Well done to those against the motion - especially the last two ladies - and this is coming from a person who holds Friedman in high regard.

    I understand Oxford is not in the U.S and is therefore under a different obligation on what protection citizens have. However Milton is American. This idea that business has free reign and the controls are nonexistent is impossible. In so far that a business does not effect anyone else's rights. A business has no social responsibility to do things. What a business does have is an obligation to make safe products. If they deceive, if they have dangerous goods the government on behalf of the people can step in. If they pollute water the government has a right to step in. They have a right because the business has now infringed on the rights of the individual. Licensing, EPA standards that has no direct effect on the consumer, redistribution of wealth. Is a responsibility only given to a business owner should they choose to follow. Not a responsibility of government to pre-emptively enforce.

    I remember our economic class spent an entire semester breaking down Friedman’s “Free to Choose” my freshman year of college. It was great to instill the basics of supply and demand, but little else when it comes to real world economics. I believe Kristina was the last speaker in this debate. She just destroyed the other side,.

    “Friedman frames it as a zero sum game” ???????? Milton Friedman has directly opposed that exact statement more times than I could possibly count I don’t think any of the people on the opposition have actually even heard a shred of a Friedman lecture or debate. The way they take him directly out of context is despicable

      This is not a mistake born out of ignorance, but a dishonest tactic very popular on left aimed to misinform and also gaslight the opponent. Soo in short they achieve two things, one manipulate the uninformed audience about what is true, and at the same time provoke, just in case the debate opponent may get emotional or angry and appear not in control and calm. As result the opponent will be perceived as untrustworthy, unappealing and not on top, a loser basically. It's more used than ever unfortunately, sad times for truth lovers and seekers.

    Saying something is a law is perhaps the weakest argument I've ever heard someone make.

  • @spec24
    @spec24 3 роки тому

    Just because people engaged in business don't work solely for profit (DUUUUH!!!!!) says nothing to counter the argument that businesses SHOULD work solely for profit. The reason so many people have a problem with this is because they fail to understand that a business can ONLY be successful if it pleases the consumer (unless it's involved with gov't). Once you comprehend this you'll see that putting profits above all other things will lead to MORE good than not. But people equate profit with evil because the general population is no smarter than a toadstool.

    the whole idea that you should seriously consider people that claim that the only responsibility that business have is make profits, is a joke. it is like seriously considering people that claim that the earth is 6000 years old. anyone stating the profit is our god is simply lying because he is paid to lie or because it serves his interest. slavery, child labor, tax evasion, warmongering, lobbying, environmental destruction etc. all of these things are very profitable and used to be or still are legal in certain countries. nobody can claim (unless they are a lunatic) that they are socially beneficial or that business do not have to care that they are not socially beneficial, because profit is out god.

    • @dikdynasty234

      Abc Def Profits are the reason businesses exist. There are many underlying reasons a profit is created. This entire notion was a straw man.

    • @anarchic_ramblings
      @anarchic_ramblings 4 роки тому

      "the only responsibility that business have is make profits" Be honest. Have you read the article in which Friedman made this case? "anyone stating the profit is our god" Citation needed. (You won't find one.) "slavery, child labor, tax evasion, warmongering, lobbying, environmental destruction etc" Straw man. Or do you have citations?

    • @destroytheboxes
      @destroytheboxes 3 роки тому

      @@dikdynasty234 businesses exist to create value for society. Profit is simply customer feedback (a signal) to the company of how much society (aggregate customers) benefits (values) from their product. This excludes deceptive and crooked companies

    • @spec24
      @spec24 3 роки тому

      Stating that businesses should only be concerned about profits = people claiming the Earth is 6000 years old? This may be one of the stupidest analogies in the history of bad analogies. Where, INF, did you even connect these two? This is clearly the sign of a brain that is functioning well below average. "slavery, child labor, tax evasion, warmongering, lobbying, environmental destruction etc. all of these things are very profitable" Slavery is not profitable. That's why those places with slaves are so poor and those without are not. Dummy. Slavery was never profitable. It was simply fueled by ignoramuses like you thinking that it was. This is why the North was more economically successful than the South. There is not one bit of data you can point to to support the idea that slavery is profitable. Child labor has nothing to do with anything. Children are perfectly capable of working. It's just that we, as a country, have become wealthy enough that we get to choose between having our children work and starvation. You live on the backs of people who HAD to have their children work to afford to live. Not because they were mean, or because of "Capitalism" (such a stupid claim), but because that's how life was. It was, and is, like that long before Capitalism and anywhere there's not capitalism for any length of time. Tax evasion? What? Yes, tax evasion is profitable, to everyone, because it prevents the gov't from wasting money. This is like saying not chopping off my hands is profitable. WTH is wrong with you? Lobbying is profitable because that's what happens when you no longer have Capitalism. Lobbying is not part of a Capitalist society. It is part of a centrally planned society where the gov't gets to tell people how to live. Dummy. Environmental destruction is not profitable to a company whose consumers don't like that sort of behavior. However, it is also not profitable because it means the loss of resources in the long run. But environmental destruction is not some unique feature of "profits" or corporations or Capitalism. It has been going on since the dawn of man. The god damned Natives in the US had deforested much of the East coast when our ancestors arrived. But profits lead to reinvestment that can lead to better, more efficient ways of using resources, rather than "destruction." Profits are a metric by which a company use to measure how well it is PLEASING THE FUCKING CONSUMER, YOU DOLT!
